A Message From Fresh Green Light

Over the past 10 years, Fresh Green Light has trained thousands of safe new teen drivers in New York, and we’re proud to have been an essential part of Rye and the surrounding communities of lower Westchester County.

So it’s with great sadness that we’re letting you know that we’ve made the difficult decision to shut down our New York operations as August 1, 2020.

There are many reasons for our decision. First, several of our instructors are in the at-risk age or health group for COVID-19 and are not comfortable returning to work right now.

Second, and more importantly, we’ve come to the conclusion that the driver-training laws and infrastructure in New York State are woefully deficient, and that’s become only more evident in this current crisis. It’s a stark contrast to the experience we’ve had in the other states where we operate.

Given that, we’re going to focus our local staff and resources on our Connecticut business, where both the state and the DMV are consistent , effective partners and have worked as collaborators over the past four months to ensure we can safely operate in the environment we now find ourselves in.

This certainly was not a decision we made lightly, and it’s difficult to say goodbye to the many families we’ve worked with over the years. We have really appreciated your support and advocacy.
