Yes, you must have a learners permit to take the course and must bring your permit to the actual class.

Our classroom is located at 411 Theodore Fremd Avenue, in Rye NY.  It’s a white office building located off of Playland Parkway.  Enter the building through the South Lobby and take the elevator to Suite 206.  There should also be signs directing you to the classroom.

We offer the class a couple Saturdays each month from 9:30am – 2:30pm.  You cannot be late to class nor can you leave class early.  You must attend the entire class to receive your completion certificate.

You should bring your Learner’s Permit.  You can also bring notebook and pencil to take notes.  In addition, there will be water coffee and vending machines for snacks.  We highly suggest you bring your lunch since it’s a long day.

Upon completion of this course we will issue your MV-278 Certificate.  This is the certificate you will need to schedule your road test with the DMV. Please keep in mind that we do not keep any copies of your certificate on file.

You can call the office and we will provide a replacement certificate at a cost of $ 25.00

Your MV-278 is valid for 1 year.  If you don’t take your road test within 1 year of receiving your MV-287 you must re-take the 5 Hour Class

Behind the Wheel Driving Lessons & Practice

The easiest way to schedule your driving lessons is online through our Student Center using the Username and Password that was sent to you via email when you signed up. You can call the office during business hours and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Driving Lessons are eighty (80) minutes long.  Our basic package consists of six (6) lessons which makes up the total of eight (8) hours required.

Please note that our system only works with 15 minute increments, so they lesson time shows up at 90 minutes, but the actual lesson is only 80 minutes.

Yes, we can pick up and drop off at home or school at most locations in Lower Westchester County.

This includes: Rye, Rye Brook, Purchase, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Harrison, White Plains (most areas) Scarsdale and New Rochelle.  For other areas, please call the office and we will arrange a convenient meeting place.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot drop a student off at an alternate location unless we have written permission from a parent.

Our scheduling system automatically sends you an email reminder 48 hours in advance of the lesson time, which provides plenty of time to reschedule in case something comes up.  You also have the option of receiving SMS text message reminders as well if you chose that selection during registration.

We have a strict 24 Hour Cancellation Policy:   If you cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee regardless of the reason for the cancellation. We confirm the schedules of our outstanding Driving Coaches 24 hours in advance and we commit to paying them for the lessons on their schedule at that time.

If you must cancel a lesson, please do so by logging into the Student Center and cancelling the lesson online.  Do not leave a voicemail or send an email as this will not cancel your lesson.

Nope. Students must have their permit physically with them during lessons and we are required by the DMV to make sure that every student has their learner’s permit physically with them for every behind-the-wheel driving lesson – photo copies or pictures on phones don’t cut it.  If a student doesn’t have their permit for their lesson, a $ 50.00 cancellation fee will be applied.

No.  The DMV only allows a student to take one driving lesson a day.  Students can attend classroom sessions and have a driving lesson on the same day.  More importantly, we highly suggest that you space your driving lessons out over several weeks so that you are practicing what you’ve learned before moving on to the next lesson.

During the school year, driving lessons usually book 3-4 weeks in advance at Fresh Green Light, especially prime weekend times and school breaks. Summer is our busiest time, so lessons can sometimes be booked out more than a month in advance.  Please plan accordingly.
